Word Search Maker
Create a free printable word search puzzle in seconds — no sign-up, no watermark, no limits. Your words never leave your browser.
Tip: click “Generate puzzle” again for a different layout with the same words.
How to make a printable word search
- Type or paste your words in the box, one word per line (2–20 letters each).
- Pick a grid size and difficulty — easy places words only across and down, harder levels add diagonal and backwards words.
- Click Generate puzzle, then Print / Save PDF. In the print dialog you can print on paper or choose “Save as PDF”.
Word searches for kids and adults
For young kids, use a 10 × 10 grid on the easy setting with 6–8 short words — words only run left-to-right and top-to-bottom, so they're quick to find. For adults or older students, a 15 × 15 or 20 × 20 grid on the hard setting with 15–20 longer words makes a genuinely challenging puzzle, because words can also run backwards and diagonally. Teachers often print two versions of the same list: generate once for the class, then tick the answer key box and print again to grade quickly.
Can I save my word search as a PDF?
Yes. Click Print / Save PDF and choose “Save as PDF” as the destination in your browser's print dialog. You get a clean, full-page PDF with no watermark — free to download and share.
Is this word search maker really free, with no sign-up?
Yes. No account, no email address, no watermark, no puzzle limit. The site is supported by ads, so the generator itself stays free. For teachers who need class sets, an optional Pro upgrade ($9 one-time) prints up to 10 shuffled versions of the same puzzle with answer keys in one go — everything else stays free and unlimited either way.
Is my word list uploaded anywhere?
No. The puzzle is generated by JavaScript running in your browser — your words never leave your device. Once the page has loaded, it even works offline.
